The journal GUT highlights publication on the link between brachyspira and IBS with diarrhea

17 May, 2021

Front page of the journal, with a picture from the Botanical Garden.

In November 2020, new findings that link the bacterium Brachyspira to IBS, and especially the form that causes diarrhea, were e-published. Behind the study are nine researchers, all active at Sahlgrenska Academy or Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The journal Gut puts a lot of focus on the findings, as the article now comes in print. In addition to the front being covered by an image from the Botanical Garden in Gothenburg, the study is also discussed in an editorial, where researchers in Nottingham and Helsinki ask whether the discovery of Brachyspira may have the same significance for IBS as the discovery of Helicobacter pylori had for gastric ulcers.
