Biobank Väst at Sahlgrenska University Hospital is the first biobank in the Nordics within the European biobank network BBMRI-ERIC to receive the Quality Label according to ISO 20387:2018. The Quality Label award is one step closer to accreditation against the international standard ISO 20387:2018. It is proof that Biobank Väst meets the requirements of the standard and thus the laws and regulations governing biobanking. Biobank Väst’s responsibility extends from the time samples from researchers are received at the biobank, until the samples are released for further analysis. The award means that the biobank’s staff and customers can feel confident that the work done while the samples are at Biobank Väst follows standardized and quality-assured procedures. For sample donors, it is a certainty to know that samples and associated data are handled according to existing biobanking laws. Read more on Biobank Väst’s website (in Swedish).
After November 30, GUbox will be closed
The decommissioning of GUbox is now reaching its final stage. After November 30, 2022, all accounts will be removed and GUbox will be shut down completely. In the spring of 2022, the folders and files that had not already been removed from GUbox were moved to the respective owner’s OneDrive. If you have not moved your files from GUbox yourself, we recommend that you check that the files and folders you need are in your OneDrive by November 30 at the latest. The material that has been transferred automatically from GUbox has been saved in a folder in OneDrive called “MgrFrBox”.

Only students with a residence permit are granted a deferment of the start of their studies
The University of Gothenburg does not grant deferment of the start of studies to students who have not received a residence permit. This also applies to students who have ongoing applications for residence permits. This year there were an unusually high number of applications for postponement of the start of studies, especially from applicants with ongoing applications for residence permits. In the Migration Agency’s information, it appears that in many applications for residence permits, the applicants’ intention to study is investigated. In light of this, the admissions section has decided that an ongoing application for a residence permit is not a reasonable reason for granting a postponement of the start of studies.

Standard for person-centred care – you can now reach it via the University Library
The Swedish and European standard initiated and produced by the Center for person-centred care GPCC has previously been available for anyone to read in Swedish online on the SIS website. It can facilitate the introduction of, work with and research on person-centred care. Now, unfortunately, it can no longer be reached that way. But it is possible to access it via UB for those who have an x account or a gus account. You can find it via UB’s website, in the database entry. Look up SIS there and once inside the database they are now in their entirety in both Swedish and English. (https://www.ub.gu.se/sv/databaser/sok/SIS%20Abonnemang).
