The University of Gothenburg does not grant deferment of the start of studies to students who have not received a residence permit. This also applies to students who have ongoing applications for residence permits. This year there were an unusually high number of applications for postponement of the start of studies, especially from applicants with ongoing applications for residence permits. In the Migration Agency’s information, it appears that in many applications for residence permits, the applicants’ intention to study is investigated. In light of this, the admissions section has decided that an ongoing application for a residence permit is not a reasonable reason for granting a postponement of the start of studies.
