The University of Gothenburg is top ranked in sports science
The University of Gothenburg is ranked number one in Sweden and among 51-100 in the world in the field of sports science according to the prestigious Shanghai ranking. The placement is a clear improvement compared to previous years. The start of the Center for Health and Performance (CHP) at University of Gothenburg in 2011 is probably an important explanation for the improvement. CHP is located at the Sports Academy (Idrottshögskolan) near Nya Ullevi, and belongs organizationally to the Department of Food and Nutrition and Sport Science. The center is a joint formation between Sahlgrenska Academy and the Faculty of Education.

GU’s internal printing facility is closed down
GU’s internal printing facility, located at Humanisten, will be closed down at the turn of the year. The printing facility has not covered its costs for many years, and despite measures it has not been possible to obtain financial viability. The co-location of the printing operations at GU, which was done in 2019 when repro at Handels merged with the printing facility at Humanisten, has not contributed to increasing efficiency and reducing the deficit. When the internal printing house is closed down at the turn of the year, the operations at GU that have hired the printing facility will not be affected, as there are a number of procured suppliers who deliver the same services. You find information about the suppliers in the purchasing system via Tools in the Staff Portal.
The number of hall exams decreased by 80 percent during December
Almost 80 percent of all planned hall exams in the writing hall at Viktoriagatan 30 have been canceled during the period December 4th–31st. A third of these have been placed in DISA in a home environment. This means that just over 1,500 students have written and will write digital hall exams (DISA) in a home environment during December, while 290 students have written or will write on site in the writing hall. The education unit notes a trend where larger hall exams with many examinees are written in a home environment instead, while smaller hall exams are conducted according to plan in the writing hall.
