Plan for removal of crane after incident

15 December, 2020

The part of the crane that yesterday fell on to the roof of the EBM building is to be removed in the afternoon December 16. After the incident occurred Monday December 14, the contractors have investigated the event with the part of crane that caused damage to the ventilation units on the roof of EBM. The event was not caused by any construction or material defects on the crane itself. Furthermore, they have secured the site and worked on a plan for removal of the last part of the crane. When that is carried out, it will also be possible to inspect the roof from the exterior. Such inspection has already been done inside the building

The restrictions for the EBM yard and entry into the building that were announced yesterday remains until the work is completed. The follow-up of the incident will comply with general regulations for construction sites.

All course coordinators and examiners are well acquainted with the action plan and are regularly discussed at program meetings with the aim of keeping a set schedule.

Incident at the construction site when demounting a crane

14 December, 2020

On Monday December 14 at lunchtime, an incident occurred at the construction site on Medicinareberget, at the EBM backyard.

In connection with a planned demounting of a crane, a part of the crane hit the roof of the EBM building two.

Due to the incident, the availability of EBM is affected. Until the crane is removed, the entire area behind EBM is closed and passage is for the time not allowed to Barrier Unit 2 or Med Chem via Medicinaregatan 15D.

No person or animals were injured in the incident. There is no damage on equipment in EBM, but the crane caused some damage to a ventilation hood on the roof.

Skanska has begun its investigation of the incident and will develop a plan for how to remove the crane in a safe manner.

Akademiska Hus is currently reviewing how this effects the operations at EBM, in close dialogue with the operations manager.

The work on the construction site has been assessed to be able to continue.
