The research day 2021 will be moved to the autumn of 2021

14 January, 2021

Due to the latest developments regarding covid-19 and the introduction of the new pandemic law, the Research Day planned to be held on February 4th 2021 unfortunately needs to be postponed. Healthcare is currently in a strained situation and many employees have to prioritize covid care. With a maximum limit of 8 participants, it will also be practically impossible to complete the day as planned. The day is instead planned to take place in the autumn of 2021. Information about a new date and registration will be communicated at a later time. Feel free to keep an eye on the Research Day’s website: https://www.sahlgrenska.se/forskning/forskningsdagen-2021/

Report examines future use of AI in emergency care and defense medicine

11 January, 2021

Yohan Robinson, adjunct assistant professor at the Institute of Clinical Sciences, is one of the editors behind a new report from the Armed Forces, on ongoing and planned approaches based on artificial intelligence (AI) in emergency care, primarily intended for the Armed Forces’ strategic management. Special emphasis is placed on the care of trauma patients, where the solutions could contribute to the Armed Forces being able to maintain their healthcare capacity in critical situations. The technology provides opportunities to collect, process and analyze large amounts of information about the unit’s health status and physical combat value in real time. Assessment of the injured can be done, for example, by triage drones and the subsequent evacuation can be facilitated by intelligent autonomous platforms.
