The newsletter with construction information is now taking a break

20 December, 2022

In order to provide employees at Sahlgrenska Academy with relevant information about the construction projects and the disruptions they caused, a newsletter was introduced. The newsletter was started four years ago, at a time of intensive construction at Medicinareberget. Now, the Natrium project is approaching occupancy (Aug 2023) and the Sahlgrenska Life project has not yet entered the production stage, and thus the need for construction-oriented newsletters has declined. Therefore, the reporting from the new year will take place here at akademiliv.se, Sahlgrenska academy’s internal news. The newsletters about construction projects may be resumed again if it is necessary in the future.

Jovanna Dahlgren will be the next head at the Institute of Clinical Sciences

19 December, 2022

Jovanna Dahlgren will take over as head of the Institute of Clinical Sciences from January 1. She is a professor of pediatric endocrinology at Gothenburg University and a pediatric endocrinologist, obesity and diabetes doctor at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
“It is with great anticipation and humility that I take over as head. The idea is that we continue on the path that the previous head of department and head of department paved for. The reorganization that was done a couple of years ago has been successful and will continue,” read a greeting from Jovanna in the institution’s internal newsletter after the appointment.

Call announcement for funding of Pair-Linked Postdoc Positions

19 December, 2022

Wallenberg Centre of Molecular and Translational Medicine (WCMTM) is a research center at the University of Gothenburg in cooperation with Region Västra Götaland and AstraZeneca. The close interaction between the partners has ensured that researchers from basic research disciplines meet with clinically oriented researchers for a truly translational focus.
WCMTM is now launching a so called “Pair-Linked Postdoc” call, with the aim to further strengthen the connection between experimental and clinical research in Gothenburg. In this call, two principal investigators (PIs) are invited to jointly apply for funding to employ one pre-clinically oriented postdoc and one clinically oriented postdoc. The suggested project must combine preclinical and clinical research within any of WCMTM’s research areas fields of metabolism, neuroscience, cancer, inflammation, degenerative diseases, genomics, bioinformatics or life science chemistry. The use of SciLifeLabs research infrastructures in the suggested project is also encouraged. PIs from different faculties/institutes/departments or industry are eligible to apply. At least one of the responsible PIs must be employed at the University of Gothenburg and both PIs must be active within Västra Götaland.
The funding will cover expenses for employing two postdocs á two years with a possible extension of one year (maximum of three years in total per postdoc) per project. A total of up to four projects will be granted in the call.
Please visit our website for more information about the call.
Deadline for submission of the joint application is February 15, 2022.
