In this talk, we will introduce the topic of Adaptive Robot Rehabilitation, discussing the vision and goals, and explaining the open challenges.
The need for rehabilitation worldwide is predicted to increase due to changes in health and population aging. According to the WHO, the factors affecting the rehabilitation programs are the lack of resources (assistive technology, equipment, and trained professionals) and the need for more research and data on rehabilitation. Adaptive robotic physiotherapy is an emerging field that aims to provide individualized rehabilitation exercises using portable devices equipped with robotic systems, multi-modal sensors, and AI systems.
The Chalmers University of Technology in collaboration with Sahlgrenska University Hospital envision the research and development of technologies in the field of Adaptive Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Systems (AuroraΦ). The general goal of AuroraΦ is to develop and implement technologies and systems for user-centered adaptive rehabilitation. These systems should provide generalized solutions by integrating multi-sensor information with advanced and intelligent user-adaptive systems to support rehabilitation and the assessment of the exercises using quantitative data.
In this talk, we will introduce the topic of Adaptive Robot Rehabilitation, discussing the vision and goals, and explaining the open challenges. Finally, we will provide some examples of current and future collaborations between Chalmers University of Technology and Sahlgrenska University Hospital
