The restaurant Salt & syra has opened

In mid-August, the new restaurant Salt & syra and its staff began to welcome lunch guests. The restaurant is a welcome addition to Medicinarelängan and, together with Café Anatomen, will serve coffee and food to hungry students and employees. Salt & acid is located in the middle of Medicinarelängan at Medicinaregatan 7B. Salt & syra offers breakfast, salads, sandwiches and coffee, and describes its lunch food as “traditional home cooked with influences from the whole world”.

  • The opening hours are weekdays 8-15 with lunch service 11-14.
  • With a customer card, you can get a 10% lunch discount.

Information from the University Library ahead of the autumn semester

Library introduction in Canvas
The library has a Canvas module about the library’s services, aimed at new students. The module has been completely revised for the autumn semester 2022, and it contains everything new students need to know about the library. As a teacher or course administrator, you can search for the module yourself in Canvas Commons and import it into your course. The modules are called: Biblioteksintroduktion GU (HT22) och Library introduction GU (autumn term 2022).

Servicecenter på Medicinareberget har nu flyttat in i nya lokaler intill Konferenscentrum Wallenberg. De nya lokalerna är anpassade efter Servicecenters behov, och den nya placeringen är tänkt att öka tillgängligheten för studenter och personal från fler delar av universitetet.

Request for the establishment of project-linked doctoral projects, and 2 year postdoc positions – deadline Sept 15

All institutes at Sahlgrenska Academy are invited to establish doctoral projects for the next announcement of project-linked positions for doctoral students and 2 year postdoctoral positions. The application documents from the project supervisors must have reached the institute no later than September 15, 2022.

Microwave research is taking big steps forward with CE marking and new grants

The region’s world-leading medical technology research, which includes microwave technology and AI, and which is led by Chalmers together with Sahlgrenska University Hospital and Sahlgrenska Academy, is now taking big steps forward. The big news is that the solution for stroke detection, MD100 Strokefinder, which is owned by the Gothenburg company Medfield Diagnostics AB, received the long-awaited CE marking in June. The MD100 Strokefinder thus becomes the first market-approved and procurable product resulting from the regionally important research, which is based on strong local cooperation between experts in healthcare, academia and industry.

It is also new that the lab’s research groups have received grants of a total of SEK 15 million from the Swedish Research Council and the Swedish Armed Forces.

Now you can book date/time for thesis defence online. A booking can be made either by the doctoral student or by someone else. Everyone who has an x-account can book date/time.

The ERC Starting Grant call 2023 is open

13 July, 2022

The ERC Starting Grant call 2023 call has now been published on the Funding & tenders (europa.eu).

The information on the call opening is also made available on the ERC Webpage. The call is now OPEN for submission and the Information for Applicants to the Starting and Consolidator Grant Calls is also available.

The call deadline is 25 October 2022, 17.00.

Lustgården starts opening for lunch guests again

21 June, 2022

After a long period when only relatives of residents at the special housing could eat in the lunch restaurant, and others could only buy food for pick-up, Lustgården is now starting to open up for guests again. Tuesdays and Fridays from 11:00 to 13:00 during the weeks 26 – 31 (June 27 – August 5), pizzas made by a pizza baker are served on site. From week 32, the lunch restaurant will open to external guests again, as before the pandemic.

Young researchers received VR funding for international postdoc

21 June, 2022

Two young researchers at Sahlgrenska Academy are planning to conduct a period as an international postdoctoral fellow, supported by the Swedish Research Council. Anna Wenger, Institute of Biomedicine will study how acquired mutations can be used to trace the origins of childhood cancer. Her host institutes are located in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. Aron Onerup, Institute of Clinical Sciences, has received funding to go to the United States, where he will study whether physical fitness can prevent late complications in childhood cancer survivors.
