Help the university and Chalmers to invite Nobel laureates

28 September, 2022

The University of Gothenburg and Chalmers have for some years now jointly invited the laureates to Nobel lectures in Gothenburg in connection with their being in Sweden. We have had the privilege of bringing several current award winners to our universities over the years, a tradition we really want to continue. The lectures are usually very popular events, which both the prize winners and the visitors enjoy. All Nordic universities have the opportunity to invite the Nobel laureates and the competition for them is great. If you have any of this year’s award winners in your network, please contact them immediately after they are presented.

For information and questions, contact the Nobel Working Group via email: nobel@gu.se, or Jonas Martinsson, telephone 031-786 54 12, mobile 076-61 85 412

Changes in Sahlgrenska Academy’s associate professorship committee (‘docenturkommittén’)

21 September, 2022

Lars Börjesson replaces Karin Ahlberg as a member of the associate professorship committee. Together with Helle Wijk and Thomas Kvist, Lars Börjesson will have the special task of preparing applications for the title excellent teacher. Jan Lötvall is also a new member, succeeding Lauren Lissner, whose term of office has ended. Thomas Kvist has accepted Dean Agneta Holmäng’s request to continue as vice chairman of the docent committee.

Gunnel Hensing becomes a new regular member of the faculty board – Anna Westerlund becomes co-opted

21 September, 2022

Victoria Franke Stenport, Institute of Odontology, resigns as a member of the faculty board as she has obtained the position of head of section. Gunnel Hensing, Institute of Medicine, is elected as the first reserve member of the board, and will be the one who then enters as a regular member of the board. Victoria Franke Stenport’s resignation as a member means that the subject area of odontology is not represented on the board. The faculty board therefore decided to co-opt associate professor Anna Westerlund, Institute of Odontology, for the remainder of the term, which means that she will have the right to attend and speak at the board’s regular meetings.

Coffee in connection with the anniversary. Click to see a larger image.

It has now been eleven years since the first batch of doctoral students started at the Post Graduate School – Clinical research with clinical epidemiological methodology. It was celebrated with a delayed ten-year anniversary that took place on September 9 in Chalmers’ conference rooms. Happy former course participants and lecturers had the chance to meet, listen to interesting lectures, network and discuss research. The Clinical Research School is a collaboration between Sahlgrenska Academy and Regional Cancer Center West (RCC West). It is financed by the Western Healthcare Region and the Cancer Fund. The research school focuses on the knowledge needs of the clinically active researcher. It comprises a total of 20 weeks of full-time study (30 credits), a training program that can replace other doctoral courses.
