Sneak peek of the new Student Portal on October 24 or 27

At the beginning of November, a completely new Student Portal will be launched. The new concept for the Student Portal includes a simplified menu and information pages with tailored content based on students’ course participation. “My Page,” which the student accesses after logging into the Student Portal, will also contain customized materials based on course participation. You now have the opportunity to participate in a preview, which will also provide examples of how you can utilize the Student Portal in student support work.

SSF funds an industrial PhD student at AstraZeneca for Hadi Valadi

Hadi Valadi, researcher at the Department of Rheumatology and Inflammation Research, is one of those receiving an industrial doctoral student with funding from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF). The research is carried out in collaboration with AstraZeneca and focuses on understanding the mechanisms that govern how cells transmit genetic signals (RNA) to each other using small endogenous particles known as extracellular vesicles (EVs) or exosomes. The granted project aims to develop an RNA delivery platform based on these extracellular vesicles. The goal is to use this platform to target the transport of drugs, such as mRNA, to specific organs.  

The National ATMP Research School opens for applications on December 15th

The National ATMP Research School in Sweden is excited to announce that we will be accepting applications for the upcoming academic year.

The application window will be open from December 15, 2023, to February 15, 2024.

Today is the last day to vote in the advisory dean election

Today, Wednesday, October 18, is the last day for you to cast your vote in the dean election. All eligible voters have received an email to participate in the voting process. The sender is ”survey.no-reply@gu.se, Göteborgs universitet – enkät-survey”. The email contains a unique link for each eligible voter. The link leads to a webpage, equivalent to a ballot, where the election can be conducted. The election results will be announced as soon as the voting protocol is signed.

Ludger Grote is now Professor of Lungmedicine

Congratulations to Ludger Grote on his professorship! His team advances the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related breathing issues, such as sleep apnea and hypoventilation. They explore novel diagnostic methods for autonomic and cardiac functions during sleep, creating analyses to pinpoint causes of sleep apnea. The goal is to enhance risk stratification and provide personalized treatment recommendations. Research also covers sleep in advanced COPD, new drug therapies for sleep apnea, and epidemiological studies. Ludger Grote oversees term 6 in the medical program and is a key figure in Nordic sleep medicine education. He also examines European sleep experts.

More charging stations at Medicinareberget

Akademiska Hus has installed additional charging stations for electric cars at Medicinareberget. They are located at Medicinaregatan 14 and on the slope leading up to Natrium, at the rear of the Medicinarelängan building.

Susanna Wallerstedt appointed as new member of Sahlgrenska Academy’s associate professorship committee (‘docenturkommittén’)

Following a nomination from the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, the Faculty Board has decided to appoint Susanna Wallerstedt as the new member of the associate professorship committee (‘docenturkommittén’). She will be taking over from Bengt Gustafsson, who has expressed his intention to step down from his role. Susanna Wallerstedt is appointed as a member of docenturkommittén for the term spanning from September 13, 2023, to September 12, 2028.

Joakim Öhlén is new member to the Academic Appointments Board

Due to the sad passing of Eva Jacobsson Ung, a successor for her as a member of the Academic Appointments Board needed to be appointed. The Faculty Board has decided to appoint Joakim Öhlén, based on the recommendation from the dean and after consultation with the faculty-wide nominating committee. The term for members of the Academic Appointments Board is three years. Since the current term of the committee ends on December 31, 2024, he is appointed as a member for the period from September 13, 2023, to December 31, 2024.
