SEK 140 million for research on obesity-related diseases

Seven out of ten obese people suffer serious sequelae. Researchers at the Sahlgrenska Academy have been now commissioned by the EU to lead an international research project that will develop methods to identify individuals who are at risk.

VR focusing on infection and antibiotics, aging and health

In addition to the usual open project grants the Swedish Research Council also announces support within specific areas. This year, within medicine and health, the Council support research in the areas of infection and antibiotics, as well as aging and health.

Research on pharmaceuticals in the environment gets SEK 52 million funding

The research programme MistraPharma is awarded SEK 52 million by Mistra, the Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research. Joakim Larsson, associate professor of physiology at the Sahlgrenska Academy, leads one of the eight teams participating in the programme, and which now has four more years of research funded.
