The Innovation Agency Vinnova wants to enhance opportunities for postgraduate qualifications at post-doctoral and improve gender balance. Four researchers at the Sahlgrenska Academy have now been selected to be working in a leading research environment.
The Vinnova program Vinnmer tries to find the future leaders in universities and other research institutes and strengthen opportunities for postgraduate qualifications at post-doctoral for PhDs in the areas that need a better gender balance.
In the last round of Vinnmer program four researchers from the Sahlgrenska Academy are awarded funds:
- Elisabeth Almer Boström, Institute of Medicine and Harvard Medical School, USA
- Lena Öhman, Institute of Medicine and Danone Research and INRA, France
- Xiaoyang Wang, Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, and Harvard Medical School, USA
- Asa Sjöling – Institute of Biomedicine and International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh, China National Center for Preparedness, Detection, and Control of Infectious Diseases (NCPDCID), China and Chinese Academy of Science, China
A total of 154 PhDs receive this grant, which means that Vinnova finances up to half the salary for three years while the researcher’s employer finances the rest.
The investment totals to 600 million, of which over 50 million from the European Commission.
