GRANTS. Martin Bergö and Chandrasekahr Kanduri have each received 5-year grants from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. Professor Bergö’s SEK 42 million grant is for his research on malignant melanoma, while Professor Kanduri’s SEK 41 million grant is for his research on the role of noncoding RNA molecules in tumor growth.
Two young cancer researchers received SSMF’s Large Grant
GRANTS. Helena Carén and Anna Martner, both researchers at the Cancer Center at the Sahlgrenska Academy, have received the country’s largest research grant for young researchers. They were two of eight young researchers in total who recently received SSMF’s Large Grant at a ceremony in Stockholm.
Information to Applicants for Funding from the Swedish Research Council for Research Infrastructure
At the University of Gothenburg (GU), the vice-chancellor now signs applications for funding from the Swedish Research Council for research infrastructure. If you plan to apply for funding from the Research Council for infrastructure and GU is named as either the main applicant or a co-applicant, you must inform Research Funding Advisor Ulrika Hjelm of your intention no later than March 3.
Gothenburg Researchers Receive Three-year Grants
Eight researchers have received funding from the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation for three-year research fellowships. Two of the eight work at the University of Gothenburg’s Sahlgrenska Academy.
The Swedish Research Council Grants Fredrik Bäckhed SEK 18 million
The Swedish Research Council has granted Fredrik Bäckhed SEK 18 million over six years. The competition for the grants, earmarked for outstanding young scientists, was fierce – only 19 of 744 applications were approved.
