Malin Johansson receives grant from the Erna and Victor Hasselblad Foundation Hasselblad Foundation

GRANT. Dr. Johansson, a researcher at the Department of Medical Chemistry and Cell Biology, is a co-recipient of the 2014 Erna and Victor Hasselblad Foundation research grant for female scientists. Her research focuses on the protection provided by the bacteria that live in an impenetrable mucosal layer of the colon. Her ultimate goal is to set the stage for improved treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.

The Swedish Research Council Open Call is announced

Deadline for application in Clinical Treatment Research is March 19, and in Medicine and Health on 26 March. Applications are made in the new application system Prism. Since all participating researchers must create personal accounts in Prisma, the Swedish Research Council recommends applications in a timely manner.

Final accounts—Core Facilities operates in the black

FINAL ACCOUNTS. Sahlgrenska Academy reported a deficit of SEK 8 million for 2014. Core Facilities was able to make ends meet, but the Institute of Medicine has some financial problems.

Alzheimer’s researcher receives the Torsten Söderberg Academy Professorial Chair in Medicine

AWARD. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded Kaj Blennow at the University of Gothenburg the 2014 Torsten Söderberg Academy Professorial Chair in Medicine. The purpose of the SEK 10 million chair is to promote leading international research in medicine.
