Researcher Mikael Kubista receives SEK 1,500,000 from SSF, for a project in large-scale multimarker profiling in collaboration with researchers at the Institute of Biomedicine. The goal is to establish a powerful platform for basic research, that can be translated to clinical routine diagnostics and also become a powerful tool for substance screening in drug development. This state-of-the-art service platform will provide robust, low-cost, high-throughput workflows for molecular multimarker analysis that includes cell and gene therapy drug targets as well as quality control software. The project complements the workflows already developed at the Institute of Biomedicine. The quality control analysis will be implemented in software products. Some of the solutions will be commercialized through licensing.
Six project-based doctoral positions and three postdoctoral positions receive partial funding from the faculty
The distribution between project-based doctoral and postdoctoral positions is determined by search pressure and is measured as a percentage of the number of applications received. The places are established by the dean following proposals from the institutes and following prioritization by a joint academy assessment committee. This round, the faculty can finance a total of nine projects. In accordance with the assessment committee’s proposal, the following six project leaders will each receive a project-related PhD position (in alphabetical order): Andrei S Chagin, Anetta Härtlova, Erik Larsson Lekholm. Ana S. Luis, Volkan Sayin and Johan Zelano. These three applicants are granted project-based postdoctoral positions (in alphabetical order): Elias Eriksson, Michael Schöll and Åsa Tivesten.

Parking rates remain the same when Akademiska Hus takes over responsibility
From January 1st, 2024, Akademiska Hus will take over responsibility for the parking lots on the Medicinareberget and other campuses. The P permit for 2023 continues to apply until a digital solution for permits is in place. The rates remain the same. You can continue to use the EasyPark app but keep in mind that there are new zones. You can also pay with the Smart Parks app and on the web, as well as by SMS. P permit gives the right to a lower rate. To get the lower rate, add the number 1 to the end of the valid zone code (eg Viktoriagatan has zone code 11933 for visitors, for a lower rate use zone code 119331.
More information is available on the Staff Portal (in Swedish).
A brief season’s greetings from the Vice-Chancellor Malin Broberg
“Christmas and a few days of rest are just around the corner after a semester filled with hard work. During my initial time as Vice-Chancellor, I’ve only managed to meet a fraction of you, but I want to thank you all for the incredible dedication and impressive expertise I’ve encountered. I hope that you, like me, take pride in what we have achieved this year and in how the University of Gothenburg stands strong when it comes to providing knowledge and contributing to societal development even in challenging and dark times. I wish you and your loved ones all the best for the upcoming year and hope that the holidays provide an opportunity for recuperation, offering the mix of rest and activities that suits you!”

The university has gathered answers to the most frequently asked questions on the Staff Portal: https://medarbetarportalen.gu.se/aktuellt/nyheter-detalj//faq-med-anledning-av-kriget-mellan-israel-och-hamas.cid1773994?languageId=100001
Erika Palmgren won the book “70 is the new 50”
The random generator named Erika Palmgren as the winner of Ingmar Skoog’s book “70 is the new 50”. She is a university lecturer at the Institute of Odontology and a teacher at the dental hygienist program. Congratulations Erika! The book will arrive in the mail. 52 employees and doctoral students participated in the raffle for the book.
The parking permits for 2023 are also valid in 2024
The university’s parking permit for 2023 has been extended until further notice and will therefore also apply next year. This means that those who currently have a P sticker that says 2023 will be able to continue using it in 2024.
The reason why the parking permits are extended is that Akademiska hus takes over responsibility for the university’s parking spaces from the turn of the year in the properties and areas owned by Akademiska hus. While waiting for another solution from Akademiska hus, it was decided that this year’s permit are extended.

The exhibition is on display at the Biomedical Library until 26 January.
Ask researchers – a new digital concept during next year’s School Program at the Science Festival
“Ask researchers” is a new digital program idea to make research accessible to schools in an inspiring way. By working with shorter presentations and engaging Q&A sessions, we enable both more classes and more researchers/doctoral students to participate, wherever they are! Less preparation and more inspiration!
