On May 7, it’s time for the springthesis fair in health, life science and technology. The purpose is to offer students at Gothenburg University and Chalmers the opportunity for interdisciplinary projects. The fair is primarily aimed at students at master’s level, but at Sahlgrenska Academy we also address bachelor’s students. Do you have a project that could be suitable for a degree project in health, life science and technology, or any other area that bridges the gap between the University of Gothenburg, Sahlgrenska University Hospital and Chalmers? Register your project by April 12 at the latest.
Research funding agencies have made agreements with four publishers that publish open access journals
The Swedish Research Council, Formas, Forte, and Vinnova have previously decided to fund publication with publishers that exclusively publish journals with Open Access. Agreements have now been reached with Frontiers, PLOS, MJS Publishing, and Copernicus. The four research funding agencies will cover the publication costs for 2024 and 2025 together. Each publisher has information about all participating organizations and handles the identification of authors/articles eligible for publication within the agreements. Since many publishers identify articles based on both specified affiliation and email domain, you should always use your gu.se address when submitting a manuscript.
If you have any questions about the agreements, you can contact the University Library.
Upcoming Staff Portal require login with x-account
The new Staff Portal will be launched in Sharepoint on April 8th. With this system switch, access to the content will require login with an x-account. The current Staff Portal is open to all visitors and doesn’t require any login. If you are a visitor and user of the current Staff Portal and don’t have a x-account but need access also after the launch, you’ll need to ensure this with your organization. The reason for requiring x-account login is to enable audience targeting of information and ensure secure usage of the Staff Portal.
Older blue GU cards stop working from April 1
From April 1, the old blue GU cards will no longer work. These cards belong to the old GU card system, which was replaced in 2019.
Employees who still need a GU card need to order a new one in the GU card portal.
Students and employees with an active blue GU card received information about this by e-mail on February 23. Contact Servicecenter if you have questions, e-mail: servicecenter@gu.se.

The research support for registry-based randomized clinical trials (R-RCTs) has been updated
Clinical Studies Sweden has updated the information on the planning and implementation of registry-based randomized clinical trials (R-RCT). The new material is a resource that will facilitate the work of both experienced researchers who have previously conducted R-RCTs as well as those who are new to the field and want to conduct an R-RCT for the first time. Registry-based randomized clinical trials (R-RCTs) are defined as prospective randomized trials that to some extent use registries for their implementation.
