Make an effort for the climate – compensate your web searches by using the search engine Ecosia

17 January, 2020

Each time you do a web search, multiple computer servers starts which generate a carbon dioxide emission. If you who want to compensate for the emissions caused by your web searches you can switch to the search engine Ecosia. It is a social enterprise, where your searches generate advertising revenue for Ecosia, which is invested in new planting of new trees. The more users Ecosia has, the more attractive the search engine becomes for advertisers. Ecosia invests at least 80 percent of its profits to plant trees where they are needed most – in Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Peru, Indonesia, Morocco, Brazil, Nicaragua, Ethiopia, Tanzania and many more countries. Educationers within dentistry concerned about lack of competent university teachers

17 January, 2020

In a debate article in Journal Tandläkartidningen (Swedish only), representatives of Sweden’s dental programs, including Peter Lingström, expressed concern about the future opportunities for training dentists, dental hygienists and dental technicians. At the four universities, there are today a total of 33 professors and 110 teachers with a PhD. The average age of these teachers are high, and many are about to retiore. The debaters believe that the bleak situation is partly caused by the fact that the price tag for these programs has not been adjusted, and the lacking research funding within odonotology is lacking.

Delay of messages between different systems creates problems for students

15 January, 2020

There are now delays in the integration platform that cause delays of messages from Ladok to other systems. The delays in the messages mean that students who are registered in Ladok will not immediately have access to their course rooms in Canvas and GUL. Students who are accepted as a reserve or have made a late registration may therefore have trouble activating their student accounts. However, there is no danger, their registrations will not disappear. Please refer students to the information in the Student Portal. At the top of each page in the Student Portal is a yellow banner that links to a page with more information.
