Words of remembrance

Professor Mattias Lorentzon has known Anna for nearly 20 years and has worked as a close colleague with her in his research group since 2012. He describes her as a very committed and extremely competent clinical researcher who always contributed to a positive atmosphere in the working group and was extremely liked by colleagues and students:

“Anna was the director of studies at our national research school on osteoporosis from 2012 to 2018 and an important senior researcher in my research group. As Director of Studies in the Graduate School, she organized and chaired many international research meetings that came to be greatly appreciated. She was amazingly skilled at writing and reviewing scientific texts, an ability which was a great advantage to her in her work as an editor in chief of the prestigious scientific journal Journal of Internal Medicine. Anna was a very committed and extremely competent clinical researcher involved in of our several intervention studies, for example a widely noticed study that showed that one can halve bone loss in older women with probiotics.

Anna was one of Sweden’s leading experts on osteoporosis and recently participated in a national working group which will shortly propose new national treatment guidelines on osteoporosis. She was also a much appreciated lecturer and supervisor, and a great asset in our research group when it came to planning, conducting and compiling clinical studies as well as supervising students and doctoral students. She always contributed to a positive atmosphere in the working group and was extremely liked by all our staff, our colleagues and students, thanks in large part to her positive attitude, competence and willingness to always set up and contribute her knowledge.

For me personally, Anna was a person I had tremendous confidence in and always discussed important and strategic issues with. For all colleagues in the research group, her passing means an enormous loss and grief on many levels. ”

Harriet Wallberg leads an inquiry about Life Science strategy for University of Gothenburg

4 February, 2020

Harriet Wallberg, professor of physiology at Karolinska Institutet, has been appointed to lead an investigation to strengthen the strategic development of Life Science for University of Gothenburg. The initiator of the investigation is Vice-Chancellor Eva Wiberg. Shortly after the turn of the year, the Sahlgrenska Life co-planning group delivered the program report, which is the basis for the next step in the construction process. However, the faculty management at Sahlgrenska Academy had objections to parts of the report. Vice-Chancellor Eva Wiberg therefore initiated an inquiry into the University’s overall focus in the Life Science area. As a result, the Sahlgrenska Life project is paused in parts pending the investigation, which will be completed in September. The investigative leader Harriet Wallberg has also previously held assignments as University Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor at KI.
