PRIZE. Kaisa Mannerkorpi, Professor of Physiotherapy specializing in pain and the organs of locomotion, has been awarded the 2016 grant in memory of Nanna Svartz. AWARD Eva Carlsson, a stoma therapist at Östra Sjukhuset and adjunct senior lecturer at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences, has received this year’s Ostomy Award of SEK 10,000 from the ILCO Sweden Ostomy Association (ILCO Tarm- uro- och stomiförbundet). A negative attitude to school can result in poor self-esteem in children who stutter

  STUDENT. A negative attitude to school can contribute to negative self-esteem in people who stutter. This is the finding from a degree thesis by two newly graduated speech therapists at Sahlgrenska Academy. The thesis also concludes that the lack of knowledge about stuttering by schools leads to negative treatment and self-critique. External report on stem cell-treated organ transplants at Sahlgrenska University Hospital now complete

REPORT. In the report, Bengt Gerdin highlights several details of four cases where stem cell-treated transplanted organs were used in 2011-2012. Hospitalized patients often have pain and the bar for women’s pain is higher

NEW STUDY. Hospitalized patients suffer a surprising amount of pain without it receiving attention. In a Sahlgrenska Academy study, two of three patients report that they have been in pain, and the perceived pain is significantly higher than the limit considered acceptable by the medical system.
