ANNOUNCEMENTS. Starting this year, SSMF is introducing a new application procedure for its Starting and Consolidator Grant calls. These will now be implemented as a two-stage rocket, where SSMF also handles the first review stage.
Applicants for the SSMF Starting or Consolidator Grants should plan for changes in the application and review process. As of this year, SSMF implements a new two-stage application process with a short pre-proposal, Letter of intent, and a full proposal, Main proposal. Note that both the pre-proposal and the full proposal are submitted at the same time. The call opens on March 15th 2023 and closes on April 15th 2023.
The new review process means that proposals will be reviewed by SSMF also in the first stage. The first stage review was previously handled by the applicants home faculty. In the first stage the shorter Letter of intent will be reviewed by a larger group of experts in medical research. The proposals that pass the first stage will be reviewed based on the Main proposal. As before, the second stage review is handled by the SSMF review board that will determine which applicants proceed to the final interview stage.
Proposals are submitted using an electronic submission system and the following documents are uploaded:
- Project plan – Letter of Intent (maximum 2 pages).
- Publication list (maximum 5 pages)
- Project plan – Main proposal (maximum 8 pages)
- PhD diploma
