THE ENERGY CRISIS. On the Staff Portal, you will now find more information about the university’s mission to save energy, and what you can do yourself. Own initiatives are also encouraged. Behind the poster, which will be put up around the university premises, is Robert Starrat, service technician at Campusservice Lorensberg.
The University of Gothenburg, as one of 200 government agencies, has been commissioned by the government to take energy-saving measures. More information is now available on the Staff Portal about how the University of Gothenburg approaches the assignment. On the pages you will find, among other things, questions and answers that are updated when necessary, as well as printable posters that can be put up as a reminder of the importance of saving energy. Behind the design of the Last out/Lights out poster is Robert Starrat, who works as a service technician at HDK-Valand, Campusservice Lorensberg.
“A background to the design is that we had a neighbor who complained that we had the lights on in the evening. In this old house, not all the lights are on sensors, so we have to remember to turn off the lights.”
Robert Starrat himself studied design at HDK.
“There are quite a few of us here in the janitor’s office who have studied here, the design program and liberal arts, for example. There are perhaps not that many places where you finish your studies and end up in the janitor’s office. But this is a bit of a dream job for some, and we have a lot of contact with students and staff”, says Robert Starrat.
Follow the reporting
On the pages, you can also follow the university’s reporting to the Energy Agency month by month.
“The assignment extends until March 2023 and I hope that with joint efforts we have been able to make a substantial reduction in our energy consumption by then”, says Dan Ekstrand, head of the Service Unit.
