When Research Day was postponed from February 4 to November 12, all earlier registrations were cancelled. If you have not reserved the day, it is high time to do so! Research Day focuses on the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be a hybrid meeting, where some participants can be physically present while others will follow the lectures live online. Swedish will be the working language during the day.
The title of this year’s Research Day is The New Normal? Consequences, lessons learned and developments in the wake of COVID-19. All program events during the day are about pandemics from different perspectives. Research Day is aimed at all staff at Sahlgrenska Academy and Sahlgrenska University Hospital and is free for participants. Participation at the physical locations is fully booked, but it is possible to sign up as a reserve to take part on site. You can choose to participate in the morning, afternoon or all day. Spots to attend at the Wallenberg Conference Center are limited, and the other audience members will participate through the live broadcast online. Note that Research Day will not be recorded for later broadcast.

Highly topical
Ian Milsom has led the working group’s planning of Research Day 2021. He states that the subject of Research Day is highly topical. It brings together several experts, who have worked with COVID-19 in various ways, to summarize lessons so far.
“For the medical care system, the COVID-19 pandemic has been the biggest event in modern times and has required enormous adjustments. Research Day will provide a picture of how the pandemic has impacted both the medical care system and the University. The pandemic has meant a leap forward for adoption of digital solutions and shown us what the process looks like when we must quickly learn to deal with a completely new disease,” says Ian Milsom.
Pencil in February 3 next year
In parallel, the working group has now begun planning for Research Day 2022. It will be held on February 3, 2022 The theme for the day will be Working together to conduct top quality interdisciplinary research.
“By interdisciplinary we mean the research we do together at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, but also the interdisciplinary collaboration we have between different disciplines at other institutions, other faculties, other higher education institutions and internationally,” says Ian Milsom.
