Natrium – nytt hus för Naturvetenskapliga fakulteten
Downstairs in Medicinarelängan, installation work will take place during the summer. In parallel, the construction of interior walls continues, as is painting. On the entrance floor, focus is on cabling and installation of radiators. The wall construction continues here as well, and is followed by painting.
Entrance 7b closes before midsummer. To maintain the possibility of evacuation in the event of a fire, the door will be moved a few meters sideways, a measure to solve the evacuation until the new entrance is complete. The area in front of entrance 7b will be fenced in with the construction fence. An excavator will prepare the surface for future concrete work.
A scaffold has been put up alongside Medicinarelängan for the roof renovation that has just begun.
At the construction site
The superstructure for building 1 has now passed the fifth floor and work continues during June and July. In August, when completed, the erection of building 2 begins.
As soon as the superstructure is in place, assembly of the facade begins. It consists of prefabricated modules of glass and sheet metal.
Outside the building, backfilling work is underway and plenty of installations under the surface. Towards the EBM yard, the finished level differences emerge with the help of retaining walls along the house body.
In the cellar, walls are built and pipes, ventilation ducts, sprinkler pipes are installed. A prioritised area is the installation rooms. The future herbarium has had rails cast in for the future compact archive.
During week 23, the interior work on third floor starts. This also means deliveries of materials. Since a few weeks ago, there is a construction elevator in place in the future atrium. Before the holiday, two more construction lifts are installed, on the building’s side facing the EBM yard.
The construction project will run operations throughout the summer period, albeit with reduced activity.
The superstructure assembly continues, which means continued transports and that the tower crane is moving.
During the holidays, working hours are the same as before, for the assembly part between 07-19.
Sahlgrenska Life – science and health care of the future
The program review for buildings 2 & 3 is extended without affecting the end time
The program review for Sahlgrenska Life buildings 2 and 3 has been going on for some time. At GU’s steering group meeting for buildings 2 and 3, end of May, it emerged that it would be difficult to complete it by 1 July, according to the agreement with the property owner Vitartes and VGR. Now, GU, VGR and Vitartes have agreed to extend the time to October 1.
The decision allows the work groups together with the architects time for more meetings until 3 September to complete the program review. The exception is the work group for translational clusters. It needs coordination with building 1 and therefore has a deadline end of October.
During the program review, the operations are placed in the house based on their need for space and the need for being interlinked in the buildings. This is followed by the so called system phase during which the project is refined with further processing.
The new schedule minimises time and cost consequences. The extension means that the subsequent system phase is delayed by 1 month. The end time of the project is however not affected. Instead, it is primarily decision-making processes that have been reviewed and shortened. The additional cost of the extension is taken by the parties within the budget for previously signed agreements.
The other parties proceed in their work
The Regional Board of Västra Götaland has now made a formal decision on continued implementation planning for house 1 after rereferring the matter back in January this year to clarify financing and operating costs linked to Sahlgrenska Life and evacuation solutions in connection with the construction.
The detail plan process proceeds at the City of Gothenburg’s Byggnadsnämnd. Recently they closed the so-called examination phase. Read more on the City of Gothenburg’s
