COVID-19. After Thursday’s announcement by the Public Health Agency of Sweden on stricter recommendations in Region Västra Götaland, among other places, Vice-chancellor Eva Wiberg emphasizes the seriousness and importance of following the recommendations. “The increased spread of infection right now is very worrying,” she says.
The number of people diagnosed with covid-19 in the Region Västra Götaland, Östergötland and Stockholm has increased sharply. After consultation with the regions, the Public Health Agency of Sweden is therefore tightening the guidelines for everyone who stays in these areas from today 29 October until 19 November.
The guidelines states, among other things, that everyone should avoid indoor environments such as shopping centers and gyms, if possible avoid physical contact with people other than those you live with and to refrain from participating in meetings and concerts.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the University of Gothenburg has taken several measures to slow down the spread of covid-19. This means that during the autumn, the university has continued to conduct large part of its activities digitally and remotely. As a general rule, work should continue to take place at home, travel is to be kept at a minimum and office overcrowding is to be avoided. It is also vital that everyone keeps their distance.
Eva Wiberg points out the importance of employees and students continuing to follow the guidelines of both the university and the Public Health Agency of Sweden.
“Now it is up to all of us to stick to the restrictions we are used to and contribute further by doing everything we can to avoid unnecessary contacts”.
