Construction information Medicinareberget: Medicinarelängan prepares for the entrance of Natrium

15 June, 2020

The first construction crane for the coming casting for Natrium is about to be set up. It will be 45 metres high.

CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION. Akademiliv provides an overview of the construction project Natrium, the new premises for the Faculty of science, and reconstruction work in Medicinarelängan. In regards of the spread of COVID-19, there is currently no impact on the progress of the projects, but University of Gothenburg and Akademiska Hus are closely monitoring developments and are making adjustments as needed. WEEK 25, June 15– 19.

Natrium

In week 25, the blasting focuses on the centre of the area, preparing a space for a room in the cellar of the building as well as a foundation for the construction crane. The groundwork has now reached the north part of the area. Piping for sewage, drainage and electricity needs to be placed under the base slab, involving several contractors.

The casting team continue with the culvert and a final casting of a wall on Wednesday.

Inside Medicinarelängan, the team continues to empty rooms on the first floor. On the second floor, demolition work continues and on the third floor, dismantling of the current electricity is in focus.

The contractor for electricity is installing consoles and cable ladders along the façade of the buildings Farmakologi höghus and a part of Nya Forsken. Drilling in order to attach these to the brick wall could mean disturbances for those close to the activity. Specific hours for drilling will be coordinated with the maintenance organisation of the property owner and communicated to the concerned groups.

Blasting in the week will take place Tuesday and Thursday at 12.30 with reserve time at 15.00 on the same days.

On the construction site for Natrium, the culvert is sealed. The casting team continues their work on the culvert and starts preparing for the base slab in the north part of the area.

The electrician continues the work on the facade of Nya Forsken in week 26.

Blasting in the week will take place Tuesday and Thursday at 12.30 with reserve time at 15.00 on the same days.

WEEK 27, June 29 – July 3.

Natrium

Concrete and groundwork continues in the north part of the area and in parallel, outloading, drilling and blasting are carried out outside Medicinarelängan and in the center of the area.

Inside Medicinarelängan demolition starts on the first floor, while on the second and third floor, the work continues as in the previous weeks.

Blasting in the week will take place in the area close to Medicinarelängan Tuesday and Thursday at 12.30 with reserve time at 15.00 on the same days.
