CAMPUS MEDICINAREBERGET. Akademiliv put five questions to Marianne Lextorp, who has just been officially appointed Campus Manager for Campus Medicinareberget after having been Acting in the role since November last year.
What is your work as Campus Manager at Medicinareberget involve?
“My co-workers and I pursue, implement, and develop services for Sahlgrenska Academy and the Faculty of Science. We work to continuously improve our service, quality and efficiency in close cooperation with the University.
“Campus is a service organization where we carry out tasks in accordance with our service catalog on a daily basis. Among other things, we carry out and coordinate services such as cleaning, mail, parcel and freight handling services, AV support, projects, security and surveillance, premises coordination, service center, janitorial services and waste management.”
What you enjoy most about your job?
“My encounters with people, creating relationships and maintaining them. I also get a lot of satisfaction from leading my co-workers; working together with them to create a good working environment, motivating them and seeing new opportunities for assisting, for being a support.”
In what ways are you working for a good working environment?
“Participating and being visible in our working groups is important to me and my co-workers. It engenders trust and strengthens the feeling of belonging within the campus. A sense of security, commitment and loyalty in supporting and helping each other is one outcome of this, which also raises our service level. But it also creates a good working environment that we are all working for together.”
You’ve been working actively to improve your level of service. How so?
“We’ve created order in our world, got structure and put in place procedures for our way of working. New tools and systems such as scanning of parcels and the case management system STIG are just a couple of examples.
“Some of our ongoing improvements involve adapting and developing our service functions by combining different roles, for example. That has helped to make us more efficient and flexible, to the benefit of the University. This also means that we are less vulnerable in our service deliveries. We work preventively by making rounds of the premises, and with our work clothes, we create a uniform profile that makes us more visible.”
What challenges lie ahead for you at Campus Medicinareberget? Anything new or major changes in the pipeline?
“Campus Medicinareberget provides services to Sahlgrenska Academy and the Faculty of Science and covers a large geographical area which is a challenge in itself. Greater density and shorter distances in the premises would make it possible to provide a more efficient service, improve access and raise our profile. We are looking forward to the coming construction project at Medicinareberget and our opportunities to be part of the development of a leading-edge campus.
