ASSIGNMENT. Helle Wijk, Associate Professor at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences, was appointed Deputy Head with responsibility for cooperation. The assignment involves preparing cooperation issues both in terms of internal contacts with other Institutes at Sahlgrenska Academy and externally with Region Västa Götaland and other municipalities in the Gothenburg area.
“It is an honor and a pleasure to have been given the assignment, and I am excited about the task. Now cooperation issues are clearly formulated in an assignment with expectations of what it can lead to,” said Helle Wijk, who noted that the Institute worked extensively with cooperation even before the new assignment was established.
“All of my colleagues are working with cooperation in different ways within the framework of their program and course responsibilities.” The assignment is situated at the strategic level and is based on a directive from the Head.
The assignment may involve, for example, developing cooperation with other Institutes in Sahlgrenska Academy, and developing new venues for student-centered learning in activities that are integrated with part of the training along with healthcare.
The Institute is in a strong phase of development both in terms of research and education, including an increase in the number of study seats.
“We have a large number of students in the educational programs for nursing, radiology nursing, specialized nursing in ten specializations and midwifery that require cooperation both for training content and implementation,” said Helle Wijk.
Helle Wijk is included in national and international networks for cooperation between academia and healthcare. For some years now she has had combination services linked to the quality strategic department at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, which also provides opportunities to contribute to greater interaction between academia and healthcare.
Helle Wijk concluded by saying that “Cooperation issues are things that everyone is working on at different levels. With the establishment of a mission with a focus on cooperation, this emphasizes the importance of building relationships and trust between academia and healthcare activities in the healthcare business in order to create the best conditions for student learning and research and ultimately, for better healthcare.”
