REPORT. SUHF has released the the report by the working group that examined the need a grading system with multiple stages in Swedish higher education. The report notes that a number of different rating systems are in use within the Swedish higher education, and that there is a lack of national coordination.
The working group proposes a further investigation into whether there should be a model to obtain a degree certificate through a merit value for full study programs in order to facilitate the ratings communicative function, especially relative to international education and employment. The group also states that SUHF should work for a annual followed up of grades at a national level. Another suggestion is that SUHF should organize forums for discussion on grading and grading systems within Swedish universities during 2016 in collaboration with SFS. Relevant aspects in these discussions are the use of rating scales, criterion-referenced assessment, the importance of grade criteria for secure examination, and the needs of the labor market.
