CONFERENCE. How can sick leave be prevented and how can primary healthcare more quickly identify persons at risk of needing sick leave? These questions were recently discussed at a conference on medical insurance research in Gothenburg. Among those speaking, was Annika Strandhäll, the Minister for Social Security.
The conference concerned bringing visibility to medical insurance research and gathering researchers and practitioners who focus on the health perspective of health insurance together. Gothenburg University,Västra Götaland Region and the Swedish Social Insurance Agency copartnered the medical insurance platform that was responsible for the conference. The conference held on November 27, was arranged by a research group from the FORTE financed welfare program, New Ways, under the direction of Professor Gunnel Hensing, Section for Epidemiology and Social Medicine, Sahlgrenska Academy.
The approximately 150 participants consisted mainly of persons from the three copartners, but both the private and public sectors from throughout Sweden were well represented.
