UGOT Challenges, a research effort by the university, attracted 103 expressions of interest.Researchers at Sahlgrenska Academy were applicants or co-applicants for almost half of them.
Researchers at Sahlgrenska Academy are involved in more than 40 of the 103 expressions of interest that UGOT Challenges received.
“We have been critical of the effort,” Assistant Dean Eric Hanse says. “But we are nevertheless pleased that so many members of our faculty went ahead and applied. We still have the chance to coordinate some of the applications in order to strengthen proposed projects and make them more competitive. It is good to know that the applications can be revised even after they have been submitted.”
The application process is being administered by the research and innovation office, which will put faculty members in touch with each other when their projects overlap. The goal is to promote collaboration.
All expressions of interest are published on the UGOT Challenges website. That way researchers have the opportunity to read each other’s drafts, as well as contact one another and talk about possible collaboration.
