Topic:
Up to half of the patients who start treatment for depression are still depressed after two treatment attempts. This is commonly called difficult-to-treat or treatment-resistant depression (TRD). This presentation will give an overview of current knowledge about TRD and how national Swedish registers can be used for research on the condition. Our research on the relationship between TRD and mortality, substance use, disability pension, and healthcare consumption, as well as recently published findings on the treatment effect of ECT in TRD compared to other depression, will be presented.
Host: Erik Pålsson, dep. of Neuroscience and Physiology, SA
