Welcome to the Sahlgrenska Academy Science Seminars, a series of seminars on Thursdays at 15-16. The seminars are, during spring 2021, conducted through Zoom Webinars.
The seminars are open to anyone interested in taking part of scientific breakthroughs and projects in the medicine and health science field. Scientists, students and other staff from GU, VGR and other organisations with the common interest of medicine and health science, welcome!
My research group aims to understand the functional basis of essential components of the protein quality control (PQC) machinery, molecular chaperones and proteases, at the atomic level employing sophisticated nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) approaches. In particular, I will present our recent efforts to elucidate the role of components of the PQC machinery in the onset of neurodegenerative diseases, where we used in-cell NMR directly in mammalian cells to study proteins at the atomic level in the native context. In addition, I will also present a recently developed approach employing bacterial vesicles as a novel in-situ tool to study protein function.
