Welcome to the Sahlgrenska Academy Science Seminars – SAS-seminars, a series of seminars on Thursdays at 15-16. The seminars are, during fall 2020, conducted through Zoom Webinars.
The seminars are open to anyone interested in taking part of scientific breakthroughs and projects in the medicine and health science field, scientists, students and other staff from GU, VGR and other organisations with the common interest of medicine and health science.
Topic:
Neuronal networks constantly adapt their activity to integrate and encode various signals. Such adaptation relies, in part, on the plasticity of synapses, in which neurotransmitter receptor content is adjusted through a dynamic equilibrium between biogenesis and degradation pathways, receptor stabilization and trafficking in and out of synapses. Here, I will specifically discuss how the membrane movement of glutamate receptors and their nanoscale organization within synapses emerged over the past two decades has an unsuspected key pathway to control neuronal network in health and brain disease.
This seminar is broadcasted on Zoom from the Arvid Carlsson premises on Medicinaregatan.
