Anders Clausen receives Ingvar Carlsson Award

AWARD. Anders Clausen, a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Cell Biology, is among twelve young scientists to receive the 2015 Ingvar Carlsson Award. As a result, he has been granted SEK 4 million for his studies of RNA building blocks that are incorporated in DNA.

Wallenberg Centre of Molecular and Translational Medicine to reinvigorate current research

LIFE SCIENCE INITATIVE. Once the summer break is over, recruitment of top young scientists for the Wallenberg Centre of Molecular and Translational Medicine will begin in earnest.
“The goal of our strategic recruitment effort is to supplement successful research settings at the university,” Professor Göran Landberg says. “That is a highly effective way of creating unique areas of excellence in the field of translational medicine.” Professor Landberg was recently appointed as the director of the new center at the University of Gothenburg.

Junior scientists organize nationwide

UNGA FORSKARE. Den nybildade organisationen National Junior Faculty kommer att bidra med ett underlag för den nya forskningspropositionen, efter uppmaning från regeringsnivå. Organisationen uppvaktar också Vetenskapsrådet, med idéer för en ny modell för bidragsfördelning.

National survey aimed at junior researchers

JUNIOR RESEARCHERS. Members of Future Faculty have recently received a survey, which will provide a map on the situation for junior researchers at six different universities in Sweden. The survey is conducted by the newly formed organization National Junior Faculty.

Malin Johansson receives grant from the Erna and Victor Hasselblad Foundation Hasselblad Foundation

GRANT. Dr. Johansson, a researcher at the Department of Medical Chemistry and Cell Biology, is a co-recipient of the 2014 Erna and Victor Hasselblad Foundation research grant for female scientists. Her research focuses on the protection provided by the bacteria that live in an impenetrable mucosal layer of the colon. Her ultimate goal is to set the stage for improved treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.
