GU researchers : “General TBE vaccination should be introduced”

The colon is defended from bacteria by a self-sacrificing sentinel cell

A lone Sentinel cell monitors and coordinates the defense of the entrance to the colon’s most sensitive parts. The Sentinel cell detects nearby bacteria and signals to a line of defensive cells to send out a cascade of mucus to push away the invaders. INTERACTION. Five enthusiastic researchers recently ran the Gothenburg Half Marathon to draw attention to efforts to develop a universal flu vaccine. The team’s most senior researcher Stefan Isaksson was also the fastest, with the finish time 1:48:49. Anna Rohlin wrote last year’s best dissertation

PRIZES. Tuesday May 17, Sahlgrenska Academy recognized seven dissertations that were defended at the faculty last year. Anna Rohlin, who received her PhD in clinical genetics, wrote the dissertation crowned the best dissertation of the year 2015. “There are many dissertations from the Sahlgrenska Academy every year, and it feels fantastic to be recognized like this,” said Anna Rohlin.
