28 Million SEK to Develop Smart Clothing

The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research, SSF, has awarded grants amounting to SEK 250 million for research into medical technology. One of the eight recipients is Kristina Malmgren, whose project has been awarded SEK 28 million.

Seven cancer researchers in Gothenburg have been awarded grants in this year’s round of funding from The Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation. Four of the grants have been awarded through the research network NBCNS.

Fredrik Bäckhed Awarded the Göran Gustafsson Prize

Fredrik Bäckhed has been awarded the Göran Gustafsson Prize in medicine for 2014. The prize is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and is the largest prize in the natural sciences in Sweden.

Olle Larkö: The New ALF Agreement is not a Cause for Anxiety

A WORD FROM THE DEAN. The ALF negotiations are heading towards a conclusion. The new agreement means that university hospitals will compete for resources, based on the quality of their clinical research. The benchmark will probably be published research results, but Dean Olle Larkö explains in his article that this is not a change we need to feel anxious about.
