Prestigious European Research Council Grant to Fredrik Bäckhed

[ WEB-TV] Fredrik Bäckhed and his research team have received a major grant from the European Research Council, ERC. This consolidator grant is one of Europe’s most prestigious research grants.

New Defibrillators can Save Lives

A Primedic Heartsave Public Access Defibrillator can anyone use. Four new sets of defibrillators are now in place at Medicinareberget and 20 persons are trained how to use them. There was one unit previously. These five defibrillators are to be used if someone suffers sudden cardiac arrest. University of Gothenburg Receives SEK 86 Million for Geriatric Research

For four decades, Gothenburg has been a world leader in research into quality of life for the elderly. The University of Gothenburg (GU) is now set to receive a total of SEK 86 million to further develop its research. Among other initiatives, the university will open an interdisciplinary center for geriatric research.

Jan Lindhe to Receive Imperial Japanese Medal

Professor Emeritus Jan Lindhe, Sahlgrenska Academy, has been awarded “the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon” by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. For over 40 years Jan Lindhe has cooperated with Japan regarding issues of dental care and this order represents recognition of his involvement. In earlier years Clint Eastwood, Peter Shelley and Richard Bowring have been among those to receive the medal.
