COOPERATION. On 11–12 April, the leaders of the medical faculties in the country gathered at the annual national deans’ meeting. The meeting was the first both for Sahlgrenska Academy’s dean Jenny Nyström, and for Annelie Tobin, head of faculty office.
Örebro University hosted the meeting this year and it took place on Campus USÖ. Issues that were discussed included collaboration on education, VFU issues, quality evaluations and qualification and service structure.
Dean Jenny Nyström emphasizes the meeting as an important forum, which provides the opportunity to meet representatives of the other medical faculties:
“There is an openness and willingness to share experiences which I see as very positive. Student throughput, new solutions to meet increased mobility among students, supply of skills, promotion criteria as well as research quality and evaluation were some of the interesting topics that were raised and discussed in Örebro”, comments Jenny Nyström.
Office head Annelie Tobin also thinks it was interesting to meet and discuss common issues.
“We share the same challenges between the medical faculties, for example when it comes to throughput on our courses. From an administrative perspective, it is interesting to talk with colleagues about how to solve different processes when sharing cases between department, faculty and joint level”, she says.
Next year the meeting will be held in Uppsala.
