Time to nominate members for the Faculty Board – deadline April 15

25 March, 2024 Leave a Comment

FACULTY ELECTION 2024. The Drafting Committe has now begun its work to put forward proposals for the election of the faculty board, which takes place in May. All employees within the Sahlgrenska Academy are invited to nominate candidates.

The new board will take office on July 1. In the faculty election, eight members and two reserves are appointed. The board consists of a total of 13 members. In addition to the eight appointed through the faculty election, the dean and vice-dean are also included, as well as three student representatives appointed by the student union. At least seven of the members must have scientific competence, meaning the majority must hold a doctoral degree.

The faculty’s Drafting Committe now urges employees to nominate candidates for the board. Nominate by emailing mattias.lorentzon@medic.gu.se, with the word NOMINATION in the subject line. The Drafting Committe requests nominations by April 15.

Eligible candidates

All employees within the Sahlgrenska Academy can be nominated, provided they have an employment covering at least 50 percent of full-time and are appointed indefinitely or have at least two years of continuous employment. You may nominate current board members for re-election, and self-nomination is also accepted. However, you must ask the person you nominate if they are willing to take on the role before submitting your nomination.

Not eligible:

You cannot nominate anyone holding a management position within the organization. This means that heads of institutes, vice heads, the head of Core Facilities, and the head of the Faculty Office cannot be nominated, nor can individuals who are part of the department’s management team, such as heads of divisions or sections. Members of the preparatory group cannot be nominated either.

Eligible voters

As in previous years, the election will be conducted digitally, via a link sent to your email. The election is planned to take place in mid-May. The preparatory group will provide further details closer to the time. All employees with an employment covering at least 50 percent of full-time and who have been appointed for at least two consecutive years are eligible to vote. Since doctoral representatives are appointed by the student union, doctoral students do not have voting rights as employees.

Feel free to contact someone in the Drafting Committe if you have any questions. The current faculty board has appointed the following Drafting Committe:

Mattias Lorentzon, Institute of Medicine (Chair), mattias.lorentzon@medic.gu.se
Niklas Darin, Institute of Clinical Sciences, niklas.darin@gu.se
Chatarina Löfqvist, Institute of Health and Care Sciences, chatarina.lofqvist@gu.se
Christine Wennerås, Institute of Biomedicine, christine.wenneras@microbio.gu.se
Lars Westberg, Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, lars.westberg@pharm.gu.se
Ulla Wide, Institute of Odontology (Vice Chair), ulla.wide@gu.se
