Collecting supplies for Ukraine at Medicinareberget

4 March, 2024 Leave a Comment

HUMANITARIAN AID. A collection of supplies destined for Ukraine is now being initiated by Erik Olsson, an educational administrator at the Institute of Medicine. Those willing to contribute can place goods and items in two separate boxes located at Hälsovetarbacken and in Anatomen.

The collected items will be dispatched via PostNord, which offers free shipping of emergency supplies to Ukraine in collaboration with the Ukrainian postal service, Ukrposhta. Ukrposhta provides lists of the items Ukraine is in need of. These lists are made available at the collection points. The list is also accessible on the PostNord website: https://www.postnord.se/om-oss/hjalppaket-for-ukraina/

HERE ARE THE LOCATIONS OF THE BOXES:

  1. Hälsovetarbacken, Building 7, floor 3, in the lunchroom. If you wish to leave something in this box, you can contact Erik Olsson at: erik.olsson.2@gu.se.
  2. Anatomen, Medicinaregatan 3, floor 3, to the left in the corridor as you exit the stairwell. If you lack access to the building, you can contact Alexandra Isaksson at: alexandra.isaksson@gu.se.

The collection is ongoing, initially scheduled until summer.

Wishing to make a difference

The boxes were placed last Friday and are now waiting to be filled. The collection will continue until summer, possibly longer.

The collection has been initiated by the educational administrator Erik Olsson, with support from the administrative leadership at the Institute of Medicine. He has long felt a desire to do something more for Ukraine.

“It’s not enough to walk around ignoring the largest military conflict in Europe since World War II. It’s also not enough to dismiss it as ‘someone else’s problem’. This is in our neighborhood, and our democratic values are under attack. Therefore, we need to stand up for what is right and take a stand,” says Erik Olsson.

He believes the workplace is a great venue for such an initiative.

“I think this can foster a sense of community. It contributes to a better workplace that one can take pride in,” he says.
