Take the chance to nominate a person for “Bjarne Ahlströms Memorial Fund 2024 in the field of “Clinical neurology – especially inflammatory mechanisms affecting central or peripheral nervous system function”.
Eligible for nomination are those who have defended their doctoral thesis after 1 January 2015 and conduct successful research (PI for grants) with international impact in the area (good publications).
In addition to contact information, the completed form contains the following:
- five most important scientific publications with the nominee as author, of which at least two should be with the nominee as the main author
- ongoing grant with nomination as PI (year granted, number of years, total amount)
- focus of research (2-3 sentences)
- motivation for nomination (maximum 150 words)
In addition to the completed form, the nomination must also contain the CV (two A4 pages) of the person nominated.
Nominations (nomination form + CV) should be submitted to the Research Support Office no later than Wednesday 6 March 2024, by e-mail to applications@sahlgrenska.gu.se
Evaluation criteria are research excellence (international impact, clinical relevance in the research question with a defined patient group in view, regardless of whether the research is conducted within basic mechanisms, prevention or clinical intervention).
The laureate is expected to submit an account of the use of the grant within 24 months of receipt for the Foundation’s long-term documentation.

Sahlgrenska Academy then nominates up to four researchers to the Bjarne Ahlström Memorial Fund. The Foundation then invites the top nominees to submit a complete dossier to the Foundation’s Scientific Committee. The prize will be awarded in the autumn of 2024.
