SCAPIS – A world-unique research study to prevent heart-lung disease

Inauguration of the re-examination – SCAPIS2
SCAPIS (Swedish CardioPulmonary BioImage Study) is a Swedish population study that studies cardiovascular and lung diseases. Between 2014 and 2018, 30,154 participants were examined at the six participating university hospitals, at Sahlgrenska University Hospital 6,265 people were examined.

The study is led and coordinated from Gothenburg University in collaboration with Sahlgrenska University Hospital.

Now a re-examination of half of the participants (3133 people in Gothenburg) is planned. Examinations will be carried out at the Östra hospital in consultation with the University of Gothenburg. The Heart-Lung Foundation finances the study. Sahlgrenska University Hospital is the first in the country to start the re-examination.
