RESEARCH COMMUNICATION. The latest episode of the Akademiliv podcast is about disaster medicine and healthcare in crisis and war. The guest is Yohan Robinson, director of the newly established Center for Disaster Medicine at the University of Gothenburg.
Around fifty wars are going on in the world right now. In addition, other types of disasters occur almost daily. Healthcare is faced with major challenges in these areas, where limited resources force healthcare professionals to prioritize and lower their level of ambition.
This is not an easy task for those who lack knowledge and experience. Raising the level of knowledge in disaster medicine can be directly decisive for people’s survival and for maintaining a functioning society, says trauma surgeon Yohan Robinson in this episode of Sahlgrenska Academy’s podcast. He is director of the newly formed Center for Disaster Medicine at the University of Gothenburg.
Interviews are done by communicators Susanne Ljungman Westergren and Elin Lindström.
