Henning and Johan Throne-Holst’s foundation was established in 1976 through a donation from Aktiebolaget Marabou. The foundation’s purpose is to promote research in human nutrition and related sciences in Sweden and Norway. The foundation distributes SEK 1 – 2 million annually.
In 2024, the foundation announces the following scholarships and grants for research in human nutrition and related sciences:
- Postdoc scholarships for research outside the applicant’s own country. The scholarships can be granted within 5 years of the dissertation and are intended to cover the researcher’s costs for travel and living abroad for 1-2 years. Contributions for accompanying items may also be included.
- Scholarships for postdocs for a short stay at a foreign research center with which the applicant or the home institution collaborates to provide the opportunity to carry out specific partial studies, use special equipment or learn new methodology.
- Scholarships for doctoral students for studies at an internationally leading center as part of their doctoral education. The scholarships are granted for a period of 3 – 12 months.
- Grants for one year of up to SEK 400,000 to newly awarded researchers for research projects at universities in Sweden or Norway. Grants can be granted within 5 years of the defense. Applicants must initiate and lead the project.
