ACADEMIC CEREMONY. Here’s a photo celebration from the Conferment of Doctoral Degrees! It was a grand ceremony for a total of 162 newly graduated researchers at the University of Gothenburg, including 104 from Sahlgrenska Academy. For the second time this year, the ceremony Conferment of Doctoral Degrees took place in the Congress Hall at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre. This marked the end of a period of canceled academic ceremonies due to the pandemic, as the university now is caught up.
The doctoral thesis’ provide new insights into various distinguished subject areas such as autism, breast cancer, type 2 diabetes, forensic medicine, and ovulation. The ceremony also honored jubilee doctors who defended their theses 50 years ago. Our honorary doctor, Guglielmo Giuseppe Campus, an international leader in preventive oral health, also received his insignia. The promoter for Sahlgrenska Academy was Göran Wennergren, senior professor in pediatrics.
The University of Gothenburg’s symphony orchestra and artists from the Academy of Music and Drama framed the ceremony. The evening concluded with a four-course banquet menu.
