SCIENCE COMMUNICATION. Every year, the University of Gothenburg contributes several programme items to the Science Festival. It is now possible for researchers, teachers, and doctoral students to register their interest in participating in both the school program and the public program.
The theme of the Science Festival 2024 is Waves (Vågor in Swedish). Waves are a physical phenomenon that means that something propagates in a room. Peaks and valleys, rhythmically recurring. Maybe the waves of the water are the first thing that comes to your mind? What do your brain waves look like then? Both light and sound are wave phenomena, but also social movements, revolutions and digital advances can create large waves of change. It is said that history goes in waves. Are you lulled in peace before the coming wave?
Dates for the festival
Dates for the school program are April 15–26, and the public program is scheduled for April 16–21.
About the School Program
- The producers who work with the school program bring in all sorts of fun, engaging, and different student activities, in all subjects. However, it is NTV that is most sought after and preferably includes laboratories/experiments.
- The program proposal can be both physical and digital!
- The Science Festival takes care of marketing and administration of bookings from schools that sign up for the programme points.
- The program is aimed at preschool and primary school.
- The school program looks for all forms of student activities that provide new knowledge, exciting insights, and inspiration to continue working in the classroom – in all subjects!
- The activities should contain one or more interactive elements, preferably hands-on, and they should preferably be a little different and fun.
- The activities must be linked to the curriculum in some way, but do not have to follow the various goals to the letter.
- The school program is marketed nationally and has participating schools from all over the country! However, it is mostly local and regional schools that participate in the on-site activities.
- Each participant is responsible for idea work and layout, venue booking, and if necessary, materials and material resources, but the producers in the school programme are, of course, available for advice and input and are happy to share ideas that exist and arise!
