What issues are most important to the student union right now in terms of the faculty’s educations?
“Right now, student health and the fact that the Faculty of Science has moved to Campus Medicinareberget are in focus. The university is in the process of procuring student health and the addition to Medicinareberget is changing the everyday life of many on campus. We want to work continuously so that the students do not feel that the studies are overwhelming and for the campus environment to be sustainable in the future.”
What challenges are there for the student union to be able to work on these issues?
“In both cases, the challenges are to form an idea of what the situation looks like right now in order to then work on improvement. Student health is a procurement process that takes place at a central level, and there SAKS’ work must take place in consultation with the student unions at other faculties. The Faculty of Science and Natrium contribute a unique challenge because there will be more students and university employees moving around Medicinareberget. Here it will be interesting to create an interaction between the students of the two faculties that both can be satisfied with in the long term.”
Why did you want to get involved in the student union? What is your driving force?
“I have previously been involved in several different social activities such as Medicinarespexet and Blåshjuden within the student union. That led to me meeting many students from other programs and becoming more and more interested in the courses, and that I wanted to contribute to the improvement of the courses. During the spring, I also reflected on the fact that I have studied practically my whole life. I’ve gone straight from Year 1 in primary school to Term 10 on the Medical Programme, so I thought it might be fun to try something different.”
