Hanns-Ulrich Marschall, professor of clinical hepatology and senior physician, has died after a period of illness at the age of 69. He was a researcher and principal investigator at the Institute of Medicine, Sahlgrenska Academy, and a consultant in hepatology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
On Friday August 25, the day of the funeral, Campus Medicinareberget will fly the flag at half-mast – at the main building Academicum, at Medicinaregatan 16, and at Hälsovetarbacken.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday September 1 at 3:15 pm in Birgit Thilander, Academicum, Medicinaregatan 3. All colleagues who wish to come together and remember Hanns-Ulrich are welcome.

I met Hanns-Ulrich back in those carefree days as a post-doc at Karolinska, when we were neighbors at the Wennergren Center, and we have been in contact ever since. I am grieved that he finally lost the fight and will always admire his good spirits, energy and wit. My heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends, and colleagues.
