FACULTY ELECTION. Sahlgrenska Academy’s drafting committee summarizes this spring’s preparatory work for the advisory dean election. The preparatory work continues with three of the six candidates nominated for the assignment. One or more final candidates will be presented in September.
In January, Sahlgrenska Academy’s drafting committee was tasked by the faculty board to carry out an advisory election of Dean Pro-Dean for the term 2024-2029.
Six nominees
The faculty’s employees have proposed six candidates in an open nomination process (March 15 to April 15) – see list below. Since all nominees meet the drawn-up requirement profile the drafting committee has closed the nomination process.
After a careful review of the candidates’ CVs, interviews with selected candidates, and taking references, the drafting committee has made an initial sorting. Three candidates – Jan Borén, Agneta Holmäng, and Jenny Nyström – are assessed to be the most suitable for the assignment as Dean. The drafting committee will therefore limit the further preparation work to these three.
Continued process
Decisions about which candidate or candidates will be put forward in the election are made in September. On October 6, an open hearing will be organized where the faculty’s employees will be given the opportunity to ask questions. The election will take place digitally on October 9-18. The election results are advisory to the Vice-Chancellor, who makes the formal decision.
For the election of the Pro-Dean, the drafting committee will independently identify candidates who, in a complementary way, match the respective dean-candidate. The drafting committee reserves the right to organize a separate election for Pro-Dean in November.
The drafting committee would like to express its gratitude to the candidates who made themselves available to the drafting committee.
